About Us

MISSION

The mission of Vertical Church Milwaukee is to glorify God by loving people and making disciples.  (Matthew 28:19-20)

Our obedience to this mission is the foundation of every Vertical ministry. From worship services to Children's Ministry to Student and Adult Ministries, our chief aim is to make authentic disciples of Christ who follow His ways in their Worship, their Walk, and their Work.

Vertical Convictions

These six foundational commissions are what drive our church’s mission.

Vertical Values

Our Vertical Values represent the culture we desire to create in order to effectively carry out our mission and convictions. These values help build a healthy church as we seek to be an embassy of the kingdom of Jesus.

Gospel Integrity: We ensure that the gospel is the theological center of all that we do. From preaching to worship, evangelism to discipleship, gospel integrity drives all of our ministries.

Purposeful Relationships: We provide intentional opportunities for our church body to develop and cultivate deep and meaningful relationships with one another. We want to look and act like the family of God in the way we relate to one another.

Intentional Care: We believe that God’s Word is sufficient to care for the whole person. In this way, we seek to provide supplemental care for the difficult issues of life through biblical counseling and crisis intervention.

Healthy Plurality: We believe that a healthy church is led by a plurality of healthy leaders. For this purpose, we regularly assess our elders and leaders in order to evaluate their growth and health.

Neighborly Generosity: We seek to care for our community by sharing the gospel and meeting practical needs. In every way, we seek to make the gospel attractive by our care for and conduct towards those around us.

Humble Growth: We believe that all of our growth comes from God and is for His glory. We never want to stop growing in our understanding of and love for God and in daily, practical application of the gospel.

Kingdom Focus: We firmly believe that our hope is in Christ, and we want to live out this truth for the glory of His name. To this end, we seek to partner with other networks and organizations with this same focus in order to further His kingdom.

Worship Walk Work

The path of authentic discipleship is a lifetime of following Jesus Christ more consistently and closely.

Growing disciples go through a continual process called sanctification, which simply means becoming more and more like our Lord. We like to describe that as worshiping, walking, and working for Christ. And when we become intentional about seeking to honor God in these three ways, we can't help but become "mature in Christ" (Colossians 1:28), growing deeper in our relationship with God and our relationships with others.

Disciple-making is worked out together in our ministry to one another. It’s not about one or a small number of pastors bearing the full responsibility to care for our church (Ephesians 4:11-12). Rather it’s about all who follow Christ using our God-given spiritual gifts to minister to each other, in the context of our Christ-centered church.

How do we do this at Vertical Church Milwaukee? It happens most effectively through our small group ministry. We want everyone who calls Vertical Milwaukee their home to take part in a Life Group. These are regular times of meeting together where the Scriptures are opened, lives are shared, and prayer is happening.
