Whether you are seeking to know more about Jesus Christ, or long to be a part of a community of people who are passionate about following Jesus, you are welcome here. Here at Vertical Church we believe life’s greatest satisfaction is found in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and that He liberates us from our sin and corresponding guilt. We are committed, therefore, to laying out the biblical picture of this glorious God and modeling our lives and love after Jesus. So convinced of Christ’s power to transform our broken lives, we want others to experience this with us.
Vertical Church is a church plant out of Harvest Bible Chapel of Rockford.
In coming to Vertical Milwaukee you would find people who are thirsty for God, who seek to know Him through careful study of the Word of God by the illuminating power of the Holy Spirit. You will see people who are filled with worship in their hearts and desirous to express it to God in song. You will see a happy marriage between freedom in worship and rigorous Bible study. You will find people who are seeking to grow in likeness to Jesus and who also want to see the community around them redeemed by Jesus.
The mission of Vertical Church Milwaukee is to glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19-20)
Our obedience to this mission is the foundation of every Vertical ministry. From worship services to Children's Ministry to Student and Adult Ministries, our chief aim is to make authentic disciples of Christ who follow His ways in their Worship, their Walk, and their Work.
These four foundational commissions are what drive our church’s mission.
UNAPOLOGETIC PREACHING : Proclaiming the authority of God’s Word without apology
“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2
UNASHAMED WORSHIP : Lifting high the name of Jesus through worship
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24
UNCEASING PRAYER : Believing firmly in the power of prayer
“Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18
UNAFRAID WITNESS : Sharing the good news of Jesus with boldness
“And also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.” Ephesians 6:19-20
Worship Walk Work
The path of authentic discipleship is a lifetime of following Jesus Christ more consistently and closely.
Growing disciples go through a continual process called sanctification, which simply means becoming more and more like our Lord. We like to describe that as worshiping, walking, and working for Christ. And when we become intentional about seeking to honor God in these three ways, we can't help but become "mature in Christ" (Colossians 1:28), growing deeper in our relationship with God and our relationships with others.
Disciple-making is worked out together in our ministry to one another. It’s not about one or a small number of pastors bearing the full responsibility to care for our church (Ephesians 4:11-12). Rather it’s about all who follow Christ using our God-given spiritual gifts to minister to each other, in the context of our Christ-centered church.
How do we do this at Vertical Church Milwaukee? It happens most effectively through our Small Group Ministry. We want everyone who calls Vertical Milwaukee their home to take part in a small group. These are regular times of meeting together where the Scriptures are opened, lives are shared, and prayer is happening. Small group ministry even takes place within our Student and Children’s Ministries.
